FAQ

How do I select a league or decide what my rating is?

Picking your league is dependent on your rating. If you have a USA pickleball rating, use this rating to sign up for your league. If you do not have a rating, you can self-rate.

What is the age cut off?

To be able to play in one of our leagues you must be at least 18 years of age.

What is my "home court" and what are the responsibilities of the home court?

Every player/doubles team needs to select their "home court". You can pick from the below options in the Bangor area:

  • Bangor High School Courts (4 permanent courts)
  • Brewer High School Courts (4 permanent courts)
  • Williams Park Courts (3 permanent courts)
  • VFW Drive Pickleball Courts in Hampden, ME (2 permanent courts)
  • Orland Community Center Courts (2 permanent courts)
  • Veazie Tennis Courts (1 tennis court has pickleball lines on each side of the court and temporary nets are available at the courts to use)
  • Bridge Tennis Courts at UMaine (2 tennis courts have pickleball lines on the tennis courts; the tennis net is used as the pickleball net)
  • Armstrong Tennis Center (8 pickleball courts available to use on 4 indoor tennis courts; if you select this as your home court you are responsible for reserving the court and paying the court fee for each match)

If you know of a court that is not listed above and would like to use it as your home court, please contact the league office and we will add it to the list. The requirements are the court has to be within 25 miles from downtown Bangor and must be a hard court surface with permanent lines. Official matches cannot be played on a gym floor surface).

How do I schedule a match?

Both players/teams are responsible to reach out to schedule their match. Each player/team profile will show an email and a phone number to connect with each other. Phone numbers and emails are only available to players in your league.

What is the cost to join a league?

The cost is $40 per player for each league you sign up for (i.e. if you participate in both Mixed Doubles and Men's Singles your total cost would be $80).

How do I enter a score?

To enter scores, you will need to go to the "Schedule" page. At the bottom of the page you will see a green box that says "Enter Scores." Click on the box and find the match that was completed. Be sure to enter both the final set score and the scores of each set. For example, if player A won the match 11-0, 11-6, 2-11, 11-8, they would enter the score as 3-1 in the first two boxes, and then hit the + button and enter the score of each individual set below. Please contact the league office if you have any questions with this.

What scoring do we use?

Each match will be a best of 5 match. First player/team to win 3 out of 5 games wins the match. A game is played to 11, win by two.

When will the schedule be available?

Registration for the leagues will close one week ahead of the start of the season. Shortly after registration has closed, the season schedules will be posted on the website.

What is the refund policy?

There are no refunds after you have signed up for a league. However, if we are not able to fill a league with enough teams to make the season competitive and fun, we will refund all players that did sign up. For example, if only 3 people sign up for a men's singles league, we would not be able to have competitive league play and would refund the 3 players their full registration fee.

Is there any awesome swag if I want to rep the Pinetree Pickleball Leagues around town?

There is! If you are interested in purchasing any apparel, select the "Apparel" tab from the menu at the top of the website. All apparel is purchased through Wight's Sporting Goods and is customized with each order so it may take 2-3 weeks before you receive your order.

If you have any requests or feedback relating to any apparel options on the store, colors, or apparel you wish we had, feel free to email the league office with feedback and suggestions!
